We built a free 3D planner that lets you design a microgreen grow room to scale. You can place racks and equipment, wall off rooms, mark outlets, spigots, and doors, and see your tray capacity instantly. You can do this right in your browser, no signup required. I wanted to build this because I couldn’t find a good tool when we were expanding from my garage to our first commercial facility. Other general purpose applications exist, but nothing specifically for indoor farms. This tool allows you to define what a standard rack looks like for your farm, whether that’s a 20-tray wire rack or an 80-tray pallet rack. After defining the dimensions and trays-per-shelf for your racks, the app will keep track of how many tray spots exist in the farm. You can drag things around and the aisle widths measure themselves. When you're done, change to Plan View and export a floor plan you can literally hand to a contractor.

Is the grow room planner really free?
Yes. It runs in your browser and your layouts save locally on your computer. We built it because layout planning shouldn't cost anything.
How do I figure out how many racks fit in my room?
Enter your room dimensions, define your grow rack, and start placing equipment. The planner won't let racks overlap walls or each other. Everything is on a half-foot grid, and the aisle labels show your walking space.
How many trays can I grow in my space?
The tray capacity of your farm depends on the farm size and the details of your racks. Before you start laying out equipment, the planner will ask for a few inputs, such as your rack dimensions. As you place racks in your farm, the application will keep track of how many tray spots exist.
Can I save or share my layout?
Both. Layouts autosave in your browser, so you can close the tab and pick up later. You can also download your layout as a small file and send it to a business partner or contractor. They can open the same free tool and load your exact build. There’s also a photo button to snap a screenshot and export it to your computer. The planner includes a feature called Plan View, which shows a top-down view of the full farm, including dimensions and utility placements.
Does it work on my phone?
The application will technically open on a phone, but it’s best to use a computer.
Does it plan my crops and schedule too?
No. The purpose of this tool is to create the best farm layout possible. Once you know that, the harder question is scheduling dozens of crops with different grow times against real customer orders.
