How Does Microgreen Manager Calculate Tray Volumes?
A behind-the-scenes explanation of how tray counts are calculated from orders, yields, and safety margins. This helps users trust and validate the math.

Last updatedWhen you create a new Order, or when Microgreen Manager creates Child Orders from a Recurring Order, the software will automatically calculate the trays needed to fulfill the contents of that Order. The software looks at the contents of the Order, including Blends, and calculates the amounts needed for each Crop. With the total volume needed, it then uses each Crop's yield per tray and safety margin to calculate the number of trays. Trays are calculated to the nearest 100th of a tray.

Your farm will likely have multiple Orders that use the same Crops. When you look at Tasks or Plantings, you will see that the trays needed for those Orders are combined and then rounded up to the nearest whole tray. We do this because we assume that you are not planting and growing partial trays and that you are always planting whole trays.
